WHAT IS HIV?
HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus
It is a virus that affects the ability of the body to fight infections.
Without treatment HIV leads AIDS.
AIDS is what kills.
How is it acquired?
It can be acquired in several ways;
Mother to child transmission at birth
Needle sharing in IV drug use
Sexual intercourse
Breast feeding
Blood that is not tested

We can only tackle a problem when we stop assuming it does not exist
Why know HIV?
We can only dispel our fears by knowing the truth.
Kenya is among the top 10 countries in the world with the highest HIV rates. Its estimated that 60% of the infections are in girls and women.
That means that there is a high chance each one of us know someone affected by HIV either directly or indirectly.
How can we change this?
Accepting that HIV is with us.
Understand how it is spread and how it can be treated.
Understand your role in the spread.
Support those around us who are impacted by the disease.
Change your mindset of the disease and avoid discrimination of those living with HIV.
