It can also cause burning pain in your feet or excess heat or cold sensation in your feet.
When you loose sensation in your feet you can sustain open wounds in your feet that take a long time to heal.

You inspect your feet every day as you shower for any wounds that may need treatment
See a podiatrist (foot specialist) once every 4 to 6months-they will help treat any wounds and tests the sensation in your feet and recommend appropriate shoes for your feet.
If you don’t have any problems with your feet, see them once a year.

It is recommended to check this once every 4-6 months to ensure that your diabetes medicines are working.

Check your weight and blood pressure every 3 to 4 months
Check your cholesterol every 6 months
The above tests will help your overall heart health.

Doing a kidney test once a year and a urine tests as well helps to make sure your kidneys are not affected with diabetes.
If they are affected the doctor may be able to start some treatment to prevent it getting worse.
